Today is usually the day for going out with the boys on the links and playing a round of golf. We normally have tee times for early in the morning and have to place them ahead of time. This week, because everyone wanted early tee times because of the heat here in Florida, all we could get was mid-day.
So me and the boys thought we would wait to see how hot it was going to get and then decide to play or cancel. And no, the forecast was not a comfortable 85, but 95 degrees and very humid. We decided to wait til a better day!
So that left me to catching up on the things I needed to work on at home…you know, those honey-do’s! The stuff you hate, but gotta do!
After I got a couple done, I decided to do some social networking for my internet business that I’ve been wanted to do, but haven’t had time.
I’d been hearing a lot about Twitter.com from Michael Cheney and that it’s a great way to get instant free traffic to your website or blog. So I decided to get signed up. I did the account signup and set up my profile with picture and all.
In case you’re interested my twitter site is: www.twitter.com/mikevanbergen
How original is that?
Then I went to the search area in Twitter to start looking for friends of mine that I could start following. I found several on Twitter and clicked on their “follow” link with the hopes that they will then do the same with me.
Then, I also went to a site that I’d heard of that has a large list of Twitter’s who are involved with internet marketing. It’s called “Marketing Pilgrim” and it has a listing of ‘200+ Internet Marketing Gurus’ who are on Twitter. So I’ve been clicking on their ‘follow’ link with the hopes that they’ll ‘follow’ me and eventually get to my blog and websites… more business! It’s all free and very easy to use.
I’m currious to see if it works as well as Michael say’s it will , but I thought what the heck, all I have to lose is a little of my time and it may turn out to be very worthwhile in getting more traffic. I would have been out losing golf balls and being miserable in the heat if I had gone golfing.
This maybe something that you may want to look at for getting more free traffic from social marketing. Just go to www.twitter.com and get twittering!
